CleverTV Migration Case Study

CleverTV provides high volume web gaming solutions in Europe. Before joining up with Green Wombat, they used a legacy system built on Sun Microsystem servers with SunOS and an Informix database server. This system could handle database tables with 100 million rows, serving over 50 million page impressions per month.

In consultation with Green Wombat, CleverTV chose to migrate their system to an Open Source architecture in time for the Soccer World Cup in 2006. This migration would save on license costs whilst allowing the upgrade of servers which were tied to the commerical model. We were able to complete this migration using Redhat, MySql, and Java with Hibernate and Spring to produce a solution that could handle an increased load over the legacy architecture. In addition to this, we were able to reduce the time for housekeeping tasks from hours to minutes. This system has since been rolled out to many of their blue chip clients.
